Chinese regarded the magpie as a bird that always appear when there is good news. When the magpie sings, there will be good news. If not news of prosperity coming, a new benefactor may be appearing soon. The magpie is also able to forecast the weather. It is a welcome sight for farmers as its diet consists of their pests. During the Tang Dynasty, there was a person named Li Jingyi. A magpie flew to his house and made a nest there.
